A project that is just starting rarely has a visual identity, yet it needs a favicon the moment it goes live. The logo maker starts from what already exists: the name. One or two letters, a font picked from Google Fonts, a background color, and you get a monogram that reads at 16 pixels as well as at 512.
At tab size, a detailed logo collapses into a smudge. Initials stay identifiable, which is why so many brands use a single letter as their app icon. Stick to three characters at most, choose a heavy weight, and keep strong contrast between the text and the background.
The logo is exported as an SVG with the text converted to vector outlines. That is essential for a favicon: an SVG referencing an external font will not display it, because the browser loads no remote resource in this context. The resulting file is self-contained, light, and scales losslessly to every size in the package.
